E K S I L

Is an independent publishing house devoted to contemporary literature, poetry, and experimental writing. Guided by a writer-driven ethos, Eksil works through dialogue, trust, and long-term collaboration, allowing each author’s voice to evolve with artistic freedom.


The publisher embraces a non-anthropocentric approach to literature, exploring the interconnections between humans, nature, and the more-than-human world. Each publication is conceived as a literary art object, where paper, typography, and design become part of the text’s expressive ecology.


Eksil’s authors include Vónbjørt Vang, Sissal Kampmann, Beinir Bergsson, Lív Maria Róadóttir Jæger, Guðrið Poulsen, and Anna Malan Jógvansdóttir—writers who together have won the


  • five nominations for the Nordic Council Literature Prize

  • four Faroese Literary Awards,

  • two Ebba Awards,

  • two Thorvald av Steinum Awards,

  • two Cultural Ministery Young Talent Awards,

  • one Atlantic Airways Art Award

  • one Debutant Award from the Danish Academy.

  • one Award in Macedonia - best book in a series Skopje Book Fair.

  • One translation award in New York (Randi Ward) - Nadia Christensen Award

  • Best poetry Faroe Islands - Løkin


  • Works have been translated into ten languages, including e.g., English, Danish, French, Swedish, Hungarian, and Italian.
